 Our Story

Summer Salt originally opened in 1986 in Sayville.

By owners and Locals, Carol and Mike Wolpert.

The original store carried resort, swim and seasonal clothing. They started small and expanded twice becoming a larger beach and surf boutique. They carried even more merchandise adding surfboards and beach chairs to list.

Allison Hollmann, the new and present owner, Used to ride her bike up to the store when she was 13 and asked for a job. “ I bought my very first bikini there.”

When she was 16, the Wolperts finally hired her. They taught her all aspects of the business. She followed them when they closed in Sayville and went to Westhampton and then to the last location in Bellport.

When they decided to close the doors in 2013, they offered the business to Allison, but the timing was not right. She had three small kids under the age of five.

In 2021 everything finally came together and her and her husband, Steven opened up Summer salt beach and surf in December 2021. The original sign hangs outside the store.
